Gamesa’s G10X 4.5 MW wind turbine took the prize in the sustainable development product category at the 7th European Business Awards for the Environment 2009-2010 in Spain.
The European Business Awards for the Environment are organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the Environment to recognise organisations whose actions have contributed towards compliance with the principles of sustainable development.
The jury recognised the G10X 4.5 MW wind turbine as being the largest one built to date in Spain in terms of installed capacity and the biggest R&D and innovation project undertaken by a Spanish company. The G10X received this same award in the Basque Country section on 24 February. The winners at European level will be announced on 3 June at an event in Brussels organised by the European Commission.
One of world’s most sustainable companies
On the other hand, the Sustainability Yearbook 2010, produced by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Sustainable Asset Management (SAM), once again highlighted Gamesa’s commitment and progress in the area of sustainability. The latest edition of the Yearbook again ranks Gamesa among the most sustainable companies in the world, and as a leader in sustainability in its area of activity, i.e. renewable energies, and one of the companies that has made the greatest strides in sustainability.
Published by PwC and SAM since 1999, the Yearbook seeks to establish a global classification of the most sustainability-minded companies that also offer the possibility of high returns for all investors, not just those who are environmentally aware.
These distinctions are the result of Gamesa’s efforts to develop environmentally-friendly projects that contribute to economic and social development.
